VAPRO specializes in the creation and distribution of courses and educational material to organizations in the processing industry. Thanks to a growing demand for tailor-made solutions, automation plays an ever increasing role. VAPRO decided to choose a tailor-made solution by Sana Learning. From this solution, lessons can be made available and published in every desired format.

Lisette Smit, manager innovation and consultancy at VAPRO explains: “Based on the input we receive from educational institutes, we create educational material. Besides this, we have our own sector model with which we can perfectly tune the learning arrangements to the organization or even the employee who will follow the course. A growing demand for tailor-made solutions causes us to frequently offer courses around specific themes. This development demands good knowledge management.”

Total solution “Before, our portfolio of more than 500 lessons was stored in two different authoring environments. Naturally that could be handled more efficiently. Besides that, printing from those environments was not arranged properly. For us as a content supplier this is very important, because we offer most of our educational material in book format”, Smit continues. “That is why we decided to gather all the material in one system, Sana Learning. The solution which has been realized for VAPRO, was partly based on our own functional input. Our knowledge of the educational world and the technical knowledge of ISM eCompany were combined to offer one total solution for VAPRO, named CompacityPro.”

Tailor-made educational arrangements The educational products of VAPRO were translated to the XML-format and exported to Sana Learning. A time-consuming task, but also one which offered efficiency. Smit clarifies: “We developed a sector model where we will first make an analysis of someone’s working environment to see which course components are needed. Based on this information we offer educational arrangements with partly fixed and partly facultative components. Because parts like design have already been arranged in the XML-code, we can easily create new educational material. Our customers can also quite easily manage their own courses, by logging in to the Sana Learning Portal, which has been specifically created in their own look-and-feel.”

Automated publications “The selection of learning components a random organization chooses, can now easily be publish in any desired format, directly from the system. We can create a PDF which can be printed, but also deliver a CD-ROM or offer it through the CompacityPro portal.” Smit concludes: “Flexibly building unique courses, an individual portal and easy-to-use order process are extra services we can now offer our customers.”
